Acounting Manager

Castle Rock, CO

REPORTS TO: President / General Manager
DEPARTMENT: Accounting

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Essential

  • Maintains accounting staff results by coaching, counseling, and corrective action; resolving issues; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; providing timely feedback to Accounting team members
  • Oversees and manages the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes in compliance with GAAP
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, complies with all regulatory reporting requirements, creates consolidated statements for 2 businesses
  • Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
  • Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
  • Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues
  • Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls
  • Administers 401k and ESOP programs includes fiduciary responsibilities
  • Responsible for administering corporate income tax and sales taxes for multiple Nexus locations.
  • Administers business insurance program (property, liability, auto, etc.) and manages Customer Certificates of Insurance updates.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

  • Experience required in distribution or manufacturing
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping and business management experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large volumes of data
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities
  • Previous leadership/coaching experience in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, order entry, bill of material, inventory accounting, sales, purchasing, and work order functions
  • Working knowledge of automated payroll systems

EDUCATION:

Four-year degree in accounting or finance and 5-7 years of related work experience in a distribution or manufacturing company or suitable combination of both
