Acounting Manager

Position Summary
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Essential
- Maintains accounting staff results by coaching, counseling, and corrective action; resolving issues; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; providing timely feedback to Accounting team members
- Oversees and manages the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes in compliance with GAAP
- Prepares, reviews, and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, complies with all regulatory reporting requirements, creates consolidated statements for 2 businesses
- Performs ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
- Meets accounting financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions
- Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues
- Maintains financial security by establishing internal controls
- Administers 401k and ESOP programs includes fiduciary responsibilities
- Responsible for administering corporate income tax and sales taxes for multiple Nexus locations.
- Administers business insurance program (property, liability, auto, etc.) and manages Customer Certificates of Insurance updates.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
- Experience required in distribution or manufacturing
- Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
- Previous accounting, bookkeeping and business management experience
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems
- Ability to manipulate and analyze large volumes of data
- Experience in working with multiple legal entities
- Previous leadership/coaching experience in a team environment
- Working knowledge of accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, order entry, bill of material, inventory accounting, sales, purchasing, and work order functions
- Working knowledge of automated payroll systems

EDUCATION:
Four-year degree in accounting or finance and 5-7 years of related work experience in a distribution or manufacturing company or suitable combination of both
