Accounts Payable Specialist - Bookkeeper

Castle Rock, CO

REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
DEPARTMENT: Accounting


POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a variety of work in accounts payable and bookkeeping, including maintaining accounts, providing reports to internal and external stakeholders, and assists with additional accounting projects as requested.



  • Organizes and verifies incoming purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, and bills of lading for payment
  • Posts A/P transactions to system
  • Processes weekly checks and wires
  • Uploads A/P documents to document management software
  • Processes inside and outside sales commissions
  • Answers accounts payable incoming calls and correspondence
  • Tracks foreign ocean cargo expenses
  • Prepares 1099 forms
  • Maintains expense and advance records
  • Maintains fixed asset database and submits data to assessors’ office
  • Enters general ledger transactions
  • Monitors general ledger accounts for accuracy
  • Reconciles credit card statements
  • Balances check accounts
  • Other duties as assigned

EQUIPMENT: Personal computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine


  • Working knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable theories and practices
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping and general ledger theories and practices
  • Working knowledge of Enlighten Net.dfm
  • Knowledge of foreign payable transactions
  • Working knowledge of MicroSoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • 10-Key by touch

  • Two years college degree with emphasis in accounting and 2 years of work related experience or a suitable combination of both


       Pay Range $21.00 to $24.00 DOE
