General Manager

REPORTS TO: President
DEPARTMENT: Administration

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Essential

  • Oversees and is directly responsible for all aspects of Master Magnetics’ day-to-day operational and financial performance
  • Leads a team of five upper managers (Accounting, HR, IT, Operations, Sales & Marketing)
  • Executes strategic plans for optimized productivity, sales growth, and profitability as established by ownership
  • Evaluates and improves operations and financial performance
  • Reviews and improves organizational effectiveness by developing processes, establishing policies, overseeing team members, establishing a highly motivational work environment, and implementing innovative changes
  • Oversees product life cycle decisions from product development through sunsetting
  • Upholds, demonstrates, and bolsters company standards for excellence, quality, and core values (Integrity, Teamwork, Responsiveness) with emphasis on urgency, internal and external customer service and accountability
  • Seeks out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships
  • Provides proactive solutions to issues (e.g. profit decline, employee conflicts, loss of business to competitors)
  • Motivates and coaches team members at all levels in the organization.
  • Ensures team members understand and follow company policies

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

  • Proven success as a General Manager or upper-level leader at a similar sized company
  • Distribution experience required
  • Manufacturing experience helpful
  • Previous leadership experience in a team environment
  • Knowledge and experience with all aspects of product life cycle
  • Knowledge in wide range of business processes and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations, compliance, etc.)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Strong team-building skills
  • Results-driven leader who prioritizes and sets expectations accordingly
  • Transparent in communicating goals and challenges
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office software including, MS Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Experience using ERP, productivity, project management, and other software programs

EDUCATION:

Master of Business Administration (MBA) and 10 years related experience in a manufacturing and/or distribution company, and 10 years combined supervisory, managerial and leadership experience or suitable combination of education and experience.
