Quality Specialist

REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
DEPARTMENT: Quality department

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Essential

  • Performs incoming inspections and tests of all material & product; including first article inspection (FAI) & return material authorization (RMA) product
  • Follows current sampling plans outlining acceptable quality level (AQL) accept/reject (AC/RE) criteria; resulting lot acceptance/rejection
  • Perform systematic transactions related to position duties
  • Assist in root cause investigations and confirmation/effectiveness of corrective action (CA) plans set forth by Quality Manager
  • Performs internal process audits and contributes to the identification of process improvements
  • Performs monthly/quarterly/yearly internal calibration on measurement tools/equipment
  • Obtain/Maintain an internal Quality Specialist Certification
  • Supports continual development of the Quality Department and the MMI Quality Management System
  • Establish and maintain an effective work area; organization and cleanliness.

Marginal

  • Rework of non-conforming product from Vendors; tracking time and materials (T&M)
  • Packaging/labeling of returns meeting an AQL of product
  • Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager

 

EQUIPMENT:  Windows Operating System, Calipers, Ruler/Tape Measurer, Magnetic Pole Viewer/Tester, Pull Test, Copier Machine, Label Printer, Barcode Scanner, Weight/Counting Scale, Small Hand Tools, Pallet Jack, Fork Lift (optional)

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/QUALIFICATONS:

  • Strong ability to assimilate information and make decisions based on data/research
  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills are imperative
  • Accurate record keeping; applicable Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications and Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Effective/Proficient written and verbal communication; practicing proper escalation
  • Accurate understanding and use of Quality terms/definitions/ and acronyms
  • Ability to adhere to documented processes and position priorities
  • Proper use of measurement tools and measurement conversions (inches/mm)
  • Type 40+ wpm, 10 key by sight (preferred)
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds using proper lifting techniques
  • Management of shifting priorities, in a results-driven environment, while maintaining focus on compliance
  • Engaged with all MMI disciplines; including, but not limited to, safety, teamwork, and interpersonal skills

 

EDUCATION: Associates degree in QC/QA or two years of QC work related experience; suitable combination considered.

 Pay Range $20.00 to $22.00 per hour
